Hesekiel Alpassi had a problem, and that problem was in the form of a freshly placed curse haunting his every day existence. Enjoying the finer things in life had become increasingly difficult as he found his taste buds soured at things he previously enjoyed, he could no longer feel the effects of alcohol, and perhaps worse of all, he was beginning to lose sensitivity to touch whatsoever. It was gradual, and yet that almost made it more annoying.

It wasn't a very strong curse, or even a well crafted one, but it had managed to seal his powers, which meant undoing the curse was impossible without the help of a powerful magic user. And, well, honestly Hesekiel wasn't on the best terms with most of the mage crowd for one reason or another (he was disliked enough to have been cursed, after all), which meant turning to outside help.

In other words, he had to find an outsider to the magic world who was able to be manipulated into doing it for him.

And that person was having dinner with him that very night.

Hesekiel tapped his fingers against the table, thinking that he had become less sensitive to touch still as he did so. This would certainly make sex annoying, if nothing else. The restaurant he had chosen wasn't a particularly nice restaurant, but it was also certainly not a cheap one, either. He didn't want to scare the kid off by waving his wealth around too much.

Apprenticeship was not something Hesekiel cared about whatsoever, but using it as a guise to get this magician to undo the curse would be work well enough. Besides, if he really had to, he supposed he could just offer him money in exchange for undoing it. But he'd rather not; he rather liked his money, after all.

Merlin was so nervous he took a sip of the water in front of him, almost spitting it out immediately after. He despised tap water.

"So, what did you want to talk to me about today, Mr. Alpassi? And I must say, once again, what a fan I am of your work--simply incredible. Unmatchable, unstoppable, unsurpassable."

He wore his very best; every cheap costume ring he owned addorned his fingers, and he wore a large heirloom brooch on his jacket. He had accessorized with no less than three scarves, and his slacks were fitted perfectly. His purple socks peeked out above his loafers stylishly.

He was cute, that much Hesekiel could admit. He leaned on his palm, idly smoothing his beard as he looked him over. He was certainly a powerful magician, whether he knew just how strong was still a mystery. The curse had sealed his powers, but not his ability to perceive others magical talents, which was at least useful in this situation.

"Yes, well, enough about my work, what about yourself?" he asked, clicking his tongue. "Have you ever thought about pursuing a career similar to my own, perhaps?"

He nodded, though he seemed unsure of himself.

"...Yes. It's my dream to be famous. I know my name belongs up in lights somewhere." He laughed, doing his best to hide his nerves. "But, I'm sure you hear that from everyone."

"But in your case, I actually believe it's a possibility," he said, leaning back in his chair. "Let me be completely honest with you; I think you have talents that can be molded into a career, and I've been thinking about picking up an...apprentice of sorts for a while now. So, here's my questions...would you be interested in an arrangement like that?"

He smiled the most genuine smile he could muster, a bit worried his true intentions for the situation would be all too obvious.
